When the new version will be available?
It could be possible, in the meanwhile, to have an older version?
IMHO is not good to have so huge time interval without any possibility to use the program (new or old or beta version).
I think that is not a good approach for the product to leave users without possibility to work.

    Thanks!

dins, I fully understand you point, but the program is developed in my spare time… no spare time -> no development actually…
The program is free and without any warrany.
Moreover the license indicates that is for personal use only (so, if someone is using it for “work” is breaking the license terms…)
I’m sorry. I spent a lot of efforts to develop a good program for the community… I’ll try do it again in the future (but no warranty at all).
(an older version is not an option – would require time to prepare the release anyway…)

First of all, I apologiaze for the term “to work” instead of “to use”…

Then, the problem is that I think the “suspended download approach” don’t give benefit for the program itself: just for example, now I would like to analyze my jogging performance and I can’t.
    I wait one week.
    Nothing.
    Two weeks.
    Nothing.
    three weeks.
    bo?!?!?!
Now I’m going to search for an alternative program. If I will find one, even if worst than yours (that I appreciate in the past a lot), I will start to use it and will not take yours anymore. This is because I think the majority of the persons don’t feel confortable to have the chance to use something only in some (not predictable) time intervals.
It is somewhat “frustating” to can’t use the program, even if we are speacking about an “old” beta version (that usually, for the majority of the purposes, works great!).

If you don’t have free time for development, why did you put limitation (expiration time) in the beta versions?

Of course this is only my personal opinion. I only give you information about the way to think of a single user (i.e. me).

Then I assume you have some good reason to don’t allow to use the program between the old beta expiration date and the new beta availability (that depens on non-predictable times, of course due to your spare time availability).

I apologiazae in advance if I don’t take some your points or reasons.

    Regards.

Dins, I completely understand your point. No problems.
And I admit I fully agree with you …
The original expiration was there just because the software was in a Beta stage and I wanted user to download newer releases. I really had time for the development and I could not foresee the actual situation :(

I’m sorry if someone is not going to use my program anymore in the future, but I fully understand. It’s my fault… (anyway I really don’t get any benefit from users, with rare exception of feedbacks – but I received just a couple of them in more than a year…)

Anyway you only the third person that is asking about the new release! So… you can understand that the is not much interest on the program. So the question is if having a community of 3 people is enough to justify the time spent…

    Time will tell :)

Personally I think your program is very cool, useful and works fine.
And I’m sorry you think the community is not so wide.
Personally I sent you (about one year ago) one comment to improve your software, and at that time you relase a new improved version implementing such comment in few days!
I can immagine in that time you had more free time, and I’m sorry you don’t have it anymore.

I hope that in the near future you can have again time, because is a shame to leave unreleased such kind of program (truly usefuful IMHO).

    Regards,

    Dins.

Hi escout, thanks for the support :)
I have restarted the development ;)
I can’t make promises because I don’t know how much time I can invest actually, but I really hope to be able to release a new version very soon.

I hope you keep development of this software going. I use it all the time converting the nmea files from my gps. I have a back log of files as I have been waiting for the new version. Keep up the good work

    Hi Claudio,

I really appreciate your software and I should have sent you direct congratulation messages before the beta expired! This being said, I recommended your work on GPSPassion (where you told the community about your software).

As explained by someone here, I based my analysis on your software – skiing and running. I hope that you will enable a new beta shortly! In any case, thank you for your time and work.

    Hi,

I’m still waiting for an update required to to be able to use Your software.
Frankly I don’t understand the reason why You impose this limitation. I’m sure You’re still using Your software with no limitation… It could be reasonable to allow to use the version You’re currently using :D You could think about releasing it before the next time limited release…

You’re going to lose the potential beta testers You’ve collected from the first release…

    Best regards

    Hi Armando,
I’m really sorry that I could not work on the program (there are has personal and working issues that I prefer not to discuss, but I could not go on with the development as planned).
The limitation was there because the initial idea was to release Betas with the limitation to induce the people to migrate the new one(and send appropriate feedbacks). Unfortunately, all the problems that happened, I could not respect the planned development.
I perfectly understand what you mean… but… because of unforeseen situations, I could not respect my initial idea.
The other problem is that there really few people interested in the program, so I’m thinking if developing a public release is worth the time spent on it (even if I’d like to support the few ones that helped!!)

    Hi Claudio,

first of all I hope Your personal and working issues are going all to be solved!

Since Your software is really good I can imagine the only reason why few people are interested in the program is that it needs to be reviewed and suggested on other forums…

If You will develop a new public release then we could try to promote the use of it… Anyway take Your time ;-)

    Best Regards
